Dopo Llano uscito nel 2011 e seguito dal Trinity uscito nel 2012 e Richland nel 2013, amd ha messo sul mercato Kaveri per contrastare le cpu intel in questo segmento di gamma intermedia.
Con questo chip AMD fa un notevole salto in avanti in questo segmento .

Questa nuava APU dispone di 2.4 miliardi di transistor circa 85% in piu' rispetto a trinity, performance ottenuta grazie a un processo da 28nm e a una tecnica che garantisce una densità piu' elevata di transistor.
Le dimensioni esterne sono circa le stesse del trinity 245 mm^2 circa 1 mm^ piu' grande.
